Preloved clothing event aims to bring Bristol community together

An event to bring a community together and encourage sustainable shopping is being run in south Bristol.

Hosts of the gathering at Quakers Meeting House, Bedminster, have invited people to bring up to six clean items of clothing to donate.

It has been organised in partnership with Eden Project Communities, which aims to bring people together in the colder part of the year.

Mending experts will also be at the event from 1100 -1300 GMT on Saturday.

Research from Eden Project Communities shows that six in ten people (60%) are concerned about the future prospects of our communities.

Additional data from ONS also indicates that 3.83 million people in the UK are now chronically lonely.

Molly Newberry, community network developer for the south west at Eden Project Communities, said: "Finding opportunities to come together and do something positive within our communities has never been more important."

She added that with many people having to tighten their belts and potentially spend the winter alone due to the cost of living, the event offers a social opportunity as well as a chance for people to "refresh your wardrobe".
