Somalia floods ‘once-in-a-century event’, says UN

A year after it was gripped by drought, Somalia is experiencing exceptional flooding, which has so far displaced almost half a million people.

The United Nations has released $25m (£20.5m) in aid to the country, describing the floods as a "once-in-a-century event."

Since early October, Somalia and neighbouring countries in East Africa have been hit by heavy rains.
